A Special Thank You...
... to VIU Professor Mary O'Neil, for bringing Cpl. Dave Cusson to Mrs. Jurgensen's class to talk to us about the 40 developmental assets and Spark, and also for encouraging us to think of our own Spark. Without that first push and inspiration, and without Mary to bring us all together, there would be no Sparks mural.
... to Principal Dave Stupich, for not even blinking when approached with this idea, and being supportive throughout the process. Thank you for approving all of our initial costs!
... to Principal Dave Street, for continuing to support us with the mural and for allowing Mrs. Jurgensen to return to Woodlands to continue the project during her sixth year.
... to all the teachers and staff at Woodlands Secondary, for helping coordinate the 9 graders and for accommodating us with our crazy tile painting days.
... to the teachers and TAs who decided to join the mural by painting a tile.
... to the awesome people at Home Depot in Nanaimo, in particular the wood cutting personnel, who spent almost three hours cutting the tiles meticulously and listening about our ideas for the project, and in the end surprised us by not charging a penny for cutting.
... and finally, to all the students at Woodlands, who searched inside themselves for their Spark, embracing this challenge with enthusiasm and courage, and believing that in the end everything would come together.
